America, The land of the free, the home of the brave. Or at least thats how it once was. It used to be the one place in the world where you can make anything happen. People would risk their lives, leave everything behind, and sail across the seas in the hope of attaining the American dream; the oppurtunity to have a good life, success, and security. Anything could happen. Anyone could become anything as long as they worked hard enough. People had morals; values; and werent overrun by greed. They worked for what they wanted and when they reached their goal they were appreciative, happy, and content.
Unfortunately we are now faced with greed, corruption, and misrepresentations. Its a sad day when regular citizens can no longer trust their government. All the public is faced with are lies. One after the other and American citizens have to sift through all of the b.s. and determine what they can and cannot believe, which proves to be a daunting task.
The economy is collapsing and the stock market is declining. We are fighting a war that can never be won, losing loved ones to a country that we are not necessarily welcome. We are $53 trillion dollars in debt, gas prices are skyrocketing, and now the American taxpayers are bailing out big companies that like to give six million dollar bonuses to their executives who are already making a ridiculous amout of money. I'm 22 years old and I feel like I would run the country better than our current president and, unfortunately, I'm not too fond of either of the candidates running in the '08 election. Unfortunately, no matter how many tax-paying Americans weigh in...it truly doesn't matter. The only thing that will change this is to fire EVERYONE in political office. Obviously that is very extreme but I am sure most of you reading this get my point. The politicians are as much to blame as the greed-ridden executives destroying our country. In fact they empower them by giving them tax breaks, and not sending them to jail! If the politicians were truly working for the people of this country...the true people... not the top 2% wealthy portion of the country, then maybe our economy and our banks wouldnt be failing.
The most important point I want to make is that these big companies are what is really destroying our economy. They spend all of this money and give outlandish salaires and bonuses. This spirals them into debt and the American people are the ones who have to suffer; who bail them out. Than they go on a luxurious retreat for about $500,000 dollars. Are you kidding me? Now they are claiming that they needed to go on that retreat because thats how they "reward" their top employees and they claim they needed to do this to restore confidence in their "major" customers. If I was a "major" client, I would not be impressed with them taking me on a spa retreat. I would be even more nervous because of the blatant disregard of people's money and frivolous spending of the bailout money that they just recieved! This is why they were about to declare bankruptcy as it is, does the government really think anything would change? What happened to honor, intergrity, and honesty? How about respect? Because obviously these big buisinesses and corrupt politicians lost these qualities a long time ago.
So instead of me sitting aound and saying that someone should do something about this I am taking action. Obviously I do not have the power to run these politicians out of office, or prosecute these companies that have become gluttons to greed, but I do have the right to voice my opinions, and so do you. That is why I am making this page where people can share their ideas, views, and opinions. (It's still a work in progress, I have many more things to add until it is complete, sorry). I encourage you to write your thoughts, express your ideas, read through the articles, watch the videos, and browse through the cartoon gallery. If you have a piece or an article you have written that you would like to display on this page you can contact me through email at AmericanPoliticsFeedback@gmail.com Together maybe we can make a difference. One voice isn't even a whisper, but our voices together is like a slap in the face to the American Government. Hopefully they will wake up, and we can save our homes, our businesses, our country, and ourselves.
